guilty

Today in Relief Society I had a way good lesson that definitely gave me some motivation.. Although I must say I am guilty. We talked about the importance of recording our lives and writing in our journals. I am not one to write, especially in a journal, so I justify with this blog. BUT I don't write on here enough! I am going to try harder to have this be my online journal so that this can be my "history" or whatever they say.

So here it goes..

What's on my mind?

I am loving School this semester. I am only taking 6 credits so it isn't bad at all. Plus I love my philosophy class, I've learned so much in there!

Work is going pretty good. I've made quite a few sales but I feel so bad calling people and asking them to buy jazz tickets during this horrible economy!! let's cross our fingers that it gets better. :)

I hate the cold. I am NOT looking forward to the few months I have to be here in this weather. Oh well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?

Looking forward to moving to AZ. Will be nice to live close to my dad and brother. I'm way proud of Dyl for how far he has gone with school!! yeah baby!

We are going to Denver for Thanksgiving to spend time with Dylans family. They moved there a couple months ago from Grand Junction. We are excited to see them and also see his grandma Mendenhall!!

I finally have more time on my hands. I've been cooking a little more and trying new recipes :) I love to cook! So sad that the farmers market is over next Saturday bc then I can't buy my produce local and fresh. :(

My plan for this next month. GET IN SHAPE. I've been slacking and I don't like how I feel. i'm sluggish and feel like I have no energy. blah. the last thing I want is to gain that winter weight!!!

Well it has been a long weekend with Dylan out of town. He and Kirsten went to Lake Powell for a backpacking class they took this semester. Usually my weekends fly by, but not this one! I got a lot of stuff done and got to spend some time with my girlfriends so I guess that is good :)

Life is good- sorry I complain so much! I really do love my life! i am so proud of Dylan and I'm excited to see where our life will take us these next couple years!! I can't WAIT to find out if my sister is having a boy or girl- YAY!!! She finds out in three days and I couldn't be happier for her. Ah I just love my family so much and am excited for the Holidays to spend more time with them all. :)

Here are a few pics of the last few months. I know I haven't posted any forever!

Goodbye Summer.. See you sooner than I think

If I had to choose to live in one season all year long, it would be Summer. Not to be pessimistic or anything, but I hate the snow. Not a fan of waking up 20 min earlier to warm up my car and scrape the snow off of it. I don't ski or snowboard so there isn't a hobby that is keeping me in Utah. I can't wait to move to AZ!! It will be such good weather all year long.. I don't care what you say, but Dylan and I just love the sun too much! :) I am not looking forward to the winter.

Why I love the Summer..
1. Zucchini is in season :) There are so many recipes that include zucchini.
2. My hair gets even blonder 3. I can go on walks at night. Without a coat or boots.

4. Star gazing. 5. My face clears up a bit from the sun. 6. I get to travel and spend more time with Dylan. OBX
7. Farmers Market. Our new favorite thing. I Love going to the Farmers Market every Saturday with my husband.

8. Bonfires. Love them

9. Late nights. No School. (Unless you are crazy enough to take summer classes.... we are) 10. Fresh Fruit :) 11. ICE. i love eating ice.

Cali, AZ, & Some Exciting News!!

Dylan and I had the opportunity to go to LA 2 weekends ago with our good friends Mike and Alyssa. Mike served his mission in LA and wanted to go back and visit some members and also just take a vacation. So we borrowed Mikes parents new Ford Escape and took off Thursday night. We stayed at my aunts house Thurs night in St. George, then woke up Friday morning and headed for Cali. It was nice to split up the drive by stayin in St. George. Thanks Rob and Mary! :) We had such a fun vacation! It was nice to get away before school started and especially since Dylan and I don't have jobs at the current moment.. We actually had time to leave!! Thanks to Alyssa for using her benefits at the Marriot, we got a nice suite for a great price!

We went downtown on Friday and walked along the stars of fame road. Then we went to this awesome restaurant the Elephant Bar for dinner. We were all so impressed with the prices and quality of the food here. If you ever pass by one of these restaurants and have somewhat of an appetite, go inside!!

Saturday we all went to Six Flags theme park for the day! It was a lot of fun. I realized that I am growing up and can't handle and those crazy roller coasters like I used to. I really got jerked around on those rides.. there was actually one ride where I blacked out for a minute. I found out that other people did also during the same place in the ride so I wasn't as concerned. :) But the theme park was great! We rode on some of the coolest roller coasters ever! AND we were smart enough to pack pb &j's in the car for lunch.. good thing! Lunch at the park was a whopping ten bucks a person!!!

Sunday, Dylan and I went to the beach while Alyssa and Mike went to visit some members and people he knew from his mission. We had a fun time at the beach.. we walked around downtown, got some lunch, and we both got some good sun! We met up with Mike and Alyssa later that day and went out for Mexican at a really good place right next to Santa Monica Beach. We had such a fun vacation.. I will post more pics when I get them from Alyssa! (Our camera is not working very well right now) :(

Since we both have the time off, we decided that now would be the perfect time to make a trip down to Arizona to check out the graduate program @ ASU. It was AWESOME! Everything just fell into place and went so smoothly over the weekend. We went to an orientation thing on Friday that my dad sneaked us into.. :) Dylan got the chance to meet with the chair over the applied psychology program. We spent quite a bit of time talking with him about the program. He told Dylan that he would have no problem getting into the program for this January, and that he will most likely get a Research Assistant position. FREE GRAD SCHOOL?!!? Yes. That is such good news. :) He told Dyl that he looks forward to having him in the program and to keep in touch.

So right now Dylan is going to finish up his last 16 credit hours and prepare for the GRE so he can take that next month and get his application all ready. He probably wont be finding a new job because he will be so busy with all of this! That's okay.. I got a job working for the Energy Solutions Arena selling Jazz tickets so we will be fine for the next few months.
Here is a pic of Dylan testing out one of the projects at the Applied Psychology Program at ASU. A research project having to do with texting and driving. so cool!

We spent a good amount of time at my dads pool. The dogs LOVED Dylan. They seriously would not leave him alone.. So they swam with us most of the time. :)

Grandma and Grandpa Roberts dancing at my cousin Britneys wedding reception a few weeks ago. ;)
Dylan and I dancing
Grandpa and I. Love this pic.

Us dancing :)My hero. I love my Grandpa Roberts so much. I have always had a special connection with him and we've been especially close the last five years. I have some great memories with him, he has touched my life in so many ways. He played the clarinet at our wedding dinner. It's what he does best :) We always promised each other that he would make it long enough to play his clarinet at my wedding, and I promised him that I would invite him to play. He sure did. Most beautiful piece ever. Here it is

Well School has started this week and we are both getting busy. I hope to keep up with blogging though, because I really love it! Since I am not a full time student I will most likely have time! Thanks for reading- hope I didn't bore you!! :)

Grandma Beth

As most of you know I have been taking care of Grandma Beth off and on for the last 2 1/2 years. I met Beth when I worked as a CNA for Hospice. When I hurt my back I ended up quitting that job but I had kept in touch with Beths family. They ended up hiring me to work for them as a CNA, but not through any company. It worked out well with my schedule so I ended up staying there!

Beth passed away on Monday morning in her sleep. She was a trooper. 96 years old and she became bed bound only 2 years ago! She was living on her own for thirty years in Richfield, UT. She lived in Canada till she was 18 then moved to Utah and lived here the rest of her life. Her and her husband Cleve lived on a farm in Richfield. He died 35 years ago but she continued to live there. Beth workedup until she was in her ninteties!! She was diagnosed with dementia and later had heart problems so they put in a pacemaker. Talk about a crazy life huh?

Anyway, I loved Grandma Beth so so much and I feel like I have been one of her granddaughters the last few years. She was SO funny! She loved Dylan and would always wink at him and give him hugs. She was always cracking random jokes, and telling us stories about the bakery or the farm she worked at. Get this... when Beth met her husband Cleve, they fell in love and wanted to get married. Well Beth wanted to run away, so that nobody else was involved. They went away for a couple days and got married and when they came back they didn't tell anyone! They didn't tell their family or friends until after they had been married a few months!! haha I just love that. :) She was not a lovey dovey person, she hardly ever told her kids that she loved them only because that is the way she grew up. But she loved them all so much and showed them in different ways. :) I am SO glad she is with her husband now and she is not suffering anymore. Love you Bethy!!

10k baby!

I have always wanted to run a marathon.. that is way out of my league though. 1/2 marathon? Still out of my league.. I don't run enough to get endurance or any kind of progress. I just run every now and then to stay in shape. BUT yesterday my friend McKehl called and asked if I wanted to run the Deseret News 10k this morning and I spontaneously agreed! I had no clue the race started at 6:00 AM or I probably wouldn't have agreed.. So here I am at work.. it's 9:00 AM- SORE, TIRED, WORN OUT, BUT SO DANG HAPPY! I am glad I ran it, and even though it's not much for most people, well it was an accomplishment for me. Props to McKehl who finished before me! She's lost 30 pounds on this "biggest loser" challenge she's doing, and she looks so good! She did amazing this morning! WOOOOHOOOOO! :)

Look at her! Dang she is good

I like how the girl behind me is just smiling at the camera.. The finish line was sooo close!
